If your loved one lives in a nursing home, or you are a nursing home resident and you are concerned about abuse within the facility, it is imperative to be on the lookout for signs of abuse. Nursing home abuse can be very easy to detect, in some instances, and it can also be very hard (or nearly impossible) to identify. Unfortunately, some victims who have been subjected to nursing home abuse may stay silent and abusers may be able to get away with their actions.

There are a number of signs to watch out for when it comes to nursing home abuse. For example, you may hear a victim discuss some of the hardships they are going through or go into detail on some of the ways they have been mistreated, and these comments should not be ignored. Or, you may see signs of physical abuse, such as a bruise or a cut. Other types of nursing home abuse, such as mistreatment which is financial or even sexual in nature, can be very difficult to detect. Nonetheless, it is extremely important for these victims to have a voice.

If you suspect that one of your loved ones has been abused in a nursing home, it is pivotal to do what you can to help them and address the situation. Filing a lawsuit may be necessary and you may have to take additional steps to protect your loved one from additional abuse.
